Throughout the day, seven families adopted eight children.

Kevin Bowling, administrator for the 20th Circuit Court, said the annual event is the end of a long road for the families. He said it is also something the court's employees look forward to every year.

“It’s fabulous,” Bowling said. “All you have to do is look at the faces of kids and parents.”

This time of year has a special meaning for Heather and Jon Hoezee. Two years ago, their first adopted daughter was born. This year, they adopted their daughter's sister.

The Hudsonville couple’s parents joined them as they officially adopted 7-month-old Bree on Tuesday.

Heather said they jumped at the opportunity to adopt Tessa’s biological sister.

“It was a dream come true,” she said. “It was a gift we couldn’t give our daughters.”

Although being a mother of two young children is a hectic pace, Heather said it’s been a riot to watch them enjoy life.

“It adds a different layer to life,” she said.
