Holland airport board OKs plan for $3.6M terminal

The board in charge of Holland's airport has hired an engineering firm to draft plans for a new terminal that's expected to cost about $3.6 million.

The new terminal would be built on the north side of the West Michigan Regional Airport, known until last year as Tulip City Airport.

The West Michigan Airport Authority has selected Mead & Hunt to develop detailed plans for a 10,000- to 11,000-square-foot airport operations center. That's about five times the size of the existing terminal.

The $25,000 project will include construction plans and detailed cost estimates. Other planned improvements include a $3.1 million apron between the terminal and the runway.
