Illnesses close local school

St. Mary's Parish School will be closed Friday due to a rash of illnesses among students and staff.

Administrators of the Spring Lake school said more than 23 percent of students are ill and about 40 percent of its staff is sick.

They said a thorough cleaning of classrooms will take place over the weekend and they hope to have everyone back on Monday.
