Soldiers from Michigan prepare for year in Liberia

Soldiers from the Michigan Army National Guard are preparing for a 12-month deployment to Liberia.

Family and friends plan to bid farewell to the 15 soldiers on Sunday during a ceremony at Fort Custer Training Center in Augusta, near Battle Creek. The soldiers are from several units and will be part of a team responsible for helping to train the Liberian military.

The soldiers will travel to Fort Benning, Ga., before their deployment.
