The first is a lake effect snow advisory that’s in effect now until 5 a.m. Tuesday. There will be localized heavy snow showers, west winds of 15 to 30 mph, blowing snow with occasional whiteouts and wind chill temperatures of -5 to -15 degrees.

An estimated 3 inches has fallen in Ottawa and Allegan counties, with additional accumulation of 2 to 4 inches this afternoon and evening.

Travel conditions are hazardous due to greatly reduced visibility and icy roads.

Frost bite could also occur to exposed skin.

A further hazardous advisory notes that late-effect snow from Tuesday through Sunday will cause slippery roads and reduced visibility. Wind chill temperatures will dip below zero and localized ice jam flooding may occur along rivers.
