The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until 11 tonight.

Snow will continue to fall, sometimes in heavy showers that will lead to hazardous travel throughout the area.

The weather bureau said 3-6 inches of total snow accumulation from today is expected by late tonight. The heaviest snow will fall across much of Ottawa County, western Kent County and northern Allegan County.

A weather bureau employee reported at 5:16 p.m. that 8 inches of snow had fallen at his Grand Haven Township home today.

Another round of snow will arrive Sunday night, and will transition into freezing rain into Monday morning.

Ice jam potential will also remain high on area rivers into next week. As the arctic air mass pulls out of the area Monday and Tuesday, we'll get rain. Then a strong cold front will arrive Tuesday night with another arctic air mass behind it.
