Chief Jeff Hadley said Jacob Grassley failed to obey orders by officers who caught him Thursday night at the Best Western Hospitality Inn. He was being pursued as part of a domestic assault investigation.

Hadley said his department is conducting an internal investigation of the shooting. He said a woman had told police that she believed Grassley had taken three weapons from her Kalamazoo home.

Grassley wasn't facing any charges in the Kalamazoo area. But the police chief said there were two warrants for his arrest in Bowling Green, Ohio.
