Winter weather advisory

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Ottawa County from 3 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Snow and sleet Sunday afternoon is expected to change into sleet and freezing rain Sunday evening, the National Weather Service said. Roads may become icy Sunday night.

Motorists are reminded to slow down on ice and snow, and adjust speeds according to conditions.

The Grand Haven area forecast:

Sunday afternoon: Snow. High near 32. South-southeast wind around 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than 1 inch possible.

Tonight: Snow and sleet before 1 a.m.; then snow, freezing rain and sleet. Temperature rising to around 34 by 5 a.m. South-southeast wind 15 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than 1 inch possible.

Monday: A chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 41. South-southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
