New Discovery Packs available for young children

Spring Lake District Library now offers a new collection of Discovery Packs for young children. The packs are a convenient resource for busy parents, as each one contains five themed picture books and board books.

The themes are topics of particular interest to young children and include subjects such as counting, emotions, potty training, seasons, dinosaurs and nursery rhymes.

Along with the books, each pack also contains a sheet of themed rhymes, songs and fingerplays for children and their caregivers to enjoy together.

For example, the Discovery Pack on feelings includes books such as "When Sophie Gets Angry – Really, Really Angry" and "My Many Colored Days," as well as a sheet of rhymes and songs such as “If You’re Happy and You Know it.”

Youth Services Librarian Elizabeth Griffin said that she “really enjoyed picking out themes, books and songs that I think preschoolers will enjoy. I hope kids and their families will have a great time sharing them together.”

There is no charge to check out Discovery Packs and they can be found in the Spring Lake District Library youth department.

The new Discovery Pack collection is made possible by Great Start to Quality Western Resource Center, part of the Great Start Collaborative.

The library is located at 123 E. Exchange St.
