Police stood by shortly after 8 this morning when a car went off the road on southbound U.S. 31 just north of VanWagoner Road in Spring Lake Township and hit a tree.
The driver was not injured.
Just before 10 a.m., one of the drivers in a two-vehicle crash at Grant and DeSpelder, sought his own treatment for injuries.
Pat Schmidt, the driver of the other car, said she was westbound on Grant when the Honda SUV slid through the stop sign and into her path. Because of snowy, slippery road, she was not able to avoid crashing into that vehicle.
She was not injured. A child in the other car also was not injured, but the driver had a cut on his head.
Emergency personnel have been busy the last two days responding to a number of crashes and slide-offs while the area was dumped with about eight inches of snow.
The National Weather Service reported that snow-covered roads and icy surfaces are continuing to cause hazardous driving conditions along the lakeshore.
Snow is expected to return Thursday night into Friday, with possible freezing drizzle.
