Conferences will go on as scheduled at Grand Haven Area Public Schools. Open Door is available at Central School only.

The state allows for 30 hours of "Snow Days," said GHAPS  Superintendent Keith Konarska for a story after schools were closed last Friday. That was the sixth day off for that district.

Konarska said the school had built in that extra day to the schedule, but any more snow days would have to be made up during the rest of the school year.

The superintendent said there were some half days scheduled that will probably have to become full days now.

Grand Haven Christian School

Walking Alive

It seems like the Ottawa County Road Commission has dropped the ball this year for the schools. They don't even get to Mercury Dr. until 5 am. Aren't school officials already checking roads for the schools at that time? Why has the county not plowed at night to keep up with the weather? Do they not see the forecasts like the rest of us? Maybe this should be followed up on to see why the roads were not cleared, I shoveled our driveway at 1 am last night and it was still clean enough to just drive out this morning. Where has the OCRC been?
