The public work crews will be doing the work between 2 and 8 a.m. Thursday.
This activity is necessary to combat the narrowing of the village’s roadways as a result of the heavy, wet snow that fell Tuesday night. This widening operation is intended to ensure that fire trucks, sanitation vehicles, postal delivery vans and school busses can continue to use the streets and otherwise conduct their business safely, as well as to improve sight distance at intersections.
Village officlals ask homeowners to allow extra time Thursday morning the crews to remove any snow that is incidentally pushed into driveways. There may be banks of up to 3 feet high in the right-of-way areas of driveways. You may need to plan on another 30 minutes to clear this unavoidable byproduct of clearing the public roadways, village officials said.
Also, it is important that residents examine their mailboxes. If they are loose or in disrepair on the post, they will likely be taken off when the wet, heavy snow is pushed back. The village will not replace mailboxes that have been knocked off by snow, officials said.
