CG 9th District releases annual report

The Ninth Coast Guard District, which is responsible for the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway, released its annual report on Thursday. A link to the full report is provided.

The report is an account of the initiatives, program changes and successes the Coast Guard has made in advancing its strategic objectives in the past year.

"Coast Guard men and women stood ready to respond round-the-clock across the Great Lakes in 2012 and also worked toward a more proficient 2013," said Rear Adm. Michael Parks, commander of the Ninth District. "This report highlights their service and illustrates the second year in a five-year plan to protect lives, improve our capabilities, and be stewards of both taxpayer dollars and the Great Lakes."

The Great Lakes Maritime Strategy was released in January 2011. It describes a five-year vision, the district commander's guiding principles, the Coast Guard's strategic objectives and a call to action that will guide the years ahead. CLICK HERE to read it.
