The list is out, and Ottawa County is No. 2 in the state's 82 counties in regards to our community's overall well-being.

Among the findings in the 2013 County Health Rankings was that this area has done a great job at eating fruits and veggies, and in exercising. We also rank high in longevity and overall health.

"The components of the Health Factors rank are indicators of tomorrow's health, so not only does Ottawa County rank high in current measures of life expectancy and sickness, we are heading in the right direction for a healthy future," stated Ottawa County Public Health Epidemiologist Marcia Knol.

Muskegon County, by contrast, is ranked No. 69. Check out the state's ranking by clicking HERE. Or see the Ottawa County report by clicking HERE.

tomorrow's health is important, i agree, it has to be a choice of individual and wish more people would see that, i see a lot of over weight people and could be at the worse if they don't change their habits, 12 years ago i had surgery to place stents in my heart, clogged arteries, i could not believe the daily routine in the heart center, doc said they do at least 14 surgery's a day, never would think until you land in the hospital taken in a stretcher, but there is hope, alot of work places have health clubs and getting people to join in for healthy living, including stop smoking classes, turn that darn cable tv off and get outside
