Wal-Mart plans to build new store near Whitehall

Wal-Mart has plans for a third superstore in Muskegon County.
Mar 21, 2013

The company says it intends to build a new store in Whitehall Township, east of Whitehall.

The store is planned for a 30-acre, undeveloped site at the southeast corner of Holton-Whitehall Road and U.S. 31, behind the Ramada Inn.

With Whitehall Township's approval, the company would invest $14 million at the site. The store could add 300 jobs to the community.

Great spot

yea as long as you don't have to live in Whitehall, right?

How unfortunate. I wonder how many local stores and jobs will disappear once this behemoth opens it's doors.

Looks like the competition better sharpen their game...we all win. Isn't capitalism great!

Just take our Walmart from Grand Haven. It is not worth shopping at.

Got that right. I hope they go out of business. Build a Costco Store there instead.

That is the worst thing that could happen to Whitehall of one of the last few nice small towns on this side of the state. I still have fond memories of Whitehall as a kid. I went there for my first 6 years of schooling. Whitehall will turn into a dirt bag city once Walmart gets their claws into the community. Walmart isn't nothing more than SCUMBAG magnet. Look what it did to Muskegon. I hope this one here in Grand Haven goes out of business. It won't hurt my feelings in the least. They should of built a Costco Store on that site instead of another stupid Walmart.

I hear ya about the magnet thing, Grand havens Wally world already drawing scumbag comments on here! Relax, no ones forcing anyone to shop there. Best way to "hurt" Walmart's feelings is to not shop there. Free market thing, look it up!
