Church choirs join for special Holy Week services

The First Congregational Church Motet Choir of Muskegon and the First Presbyterian Church Geneva Choir of Grand Haven will present joint Holy Week services next weekend.

The Maundy Thursday Service, at 7 p.m. March 28, is at the Grand Haven church, 508 Franklin Ave. The worship service will include communion and a reception after the service.

The Good Friday service, at 7 p.m. March 29, is at the Muskegon church, located on the corner of Third and Jefferson streets. The program will also include the Shema Choir in a performance of the "Allegri Miserere."

The combined choirs will be accompanied by a chamber ensemble. The performances will be co-conducted by Maryanne Beery and Thomas Clark; and feature soloists Cynthia Bates-Twinning and Denise Newell, and organist Rob Hlebinsky.

A free-will offering will be taken at each service.
