The trip begins Sunday and returns May 18. Calley said he wants to spread the message that Michigan is "more business-friendly than ever."
Calley on Monday plans meetings at the Sao Paulo stock exchange. He's also planning to speak at a business luncheon.
At the same time, the Van Andel Global Trade Center will lead executives from nine Michigan companies to Brazil to meet with prospective partners, distributors and buyers. The aim of the trip is to help increase export opportunities from Michigan.
In 2012, Michigan companies exported $692.6 million in goods and materials to Brazil, making it Michigan's eighth-largest export market.
