Power returns

A rotting utility pole created a domino effect and knocked out power to parts of Grand Haven this afternoon.

Board of Light & Power spokeswoman Renee Molyneux said the pole at the corner of Leggatt and Williams streets, a few blocks south of the downtown, broke at about 3:45 p.m. It fell down on some brush and snapped the lines, which knocked out the circuit breaker at the BLP's old diesel plant on Harbor Drive.

About 1,000 BLP customers were affected by the outage, Molyneux said. Grand public safety officers directed traffic on Beacon Boulevard, where traffic signals were out.

Power was restored shortly before 4:30 p.m.

Good turn around BLP

Great work BLP. We appreciate working with you. Now let's get those Smart Meters so we can all be smarter.
