The Grand Haven Department of Public Works will be shutting off the water to homes in the 500 and 600 blocks of Grand, and the 1500 block of Hillcrest between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Water service will be restored upon completion of the repair work.

Once the water is turned back on, there may be a slight discoloration of the water. Residents are advised to run water in their bathtub or utility sink to clear it.

Streets will remain accessible for traffic during the work.

Really, if you want to work on a valve on a water line you have to shut off the water; brilliant, the city council must have voted for this after much debate. After all, they're in everybody else's business.
