The incident happened last week at the plant, which is in on Lake Michigan in Van Buren County's Covert Township.

New Orleans-based Entergy Corp. owns the plant, and company spokeswoman Lindsay Rose said the employee was selected for a random test. She said the plant's safety "was never compromised" by the employee's alcohol consumption.

Palisades was closed from May 5 to June 17 because of a water tank leak that led to the release of some low-level radioactive material into Lake Michigan.
