High-wave action and dangerous swimming conditions are expected through this afternoon along Lake Michigan's beaches.

The National Weather Service said the most hazardous swim risks will be found on the south side of south piers and breakwalls from St. Joseph to Manistee. Particularly dangerous beaches include Grand Haven State Park.

Southwest winds of 15-25 mph will create strong structural currents and longshore currents. Conditions are expected to improve later today.

The forecast for today: Sunny, with a high near 88. Southwest wind around 15 mph.

Tonight: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. South-southwest wind 8 to 18 mph.

Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Southwest wind 9 to 15 mph.

Wednesday night: A slight chance of showers before 2 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
