The county’s property tax levy will remain the same next year, but total property tax revenue could go up by 3 percent or more, officials said. Much of that can be attributed to a manufacturing resurgence.
Northern Ottawa County has nearly run out of room for new manufacturing buildings, County Administrator Al Vanderberg said.
This year is the first since 2009 that the county is in the black with its operating tax revenue. Ottawa County runs on a Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 fiscal year.
General fund spending will be up about $2.9 million next year. However, total spending across the county government is projected to be down by $5.7 million next year.
