Wind advisory

A wind advisory is in effect Friday morning for Ottawa County.

The advisory area also includes much of west and central Michigan.

The National Weather Service said wind gusts up to 50 mph can be expected, with sustained winds near 30 mph, between 2 and 8 a.m. Friday.

Impacts:

• Scattered power outages with trees and wires down.

• Winds strong enough to make driving difficult in open areas, especially for high-profile vehicles.

• Secure outdoor ornaments, garbage cans and furniture.

The forecast for the Grand Haven area:

Overnight: Showers. Low around 46. Breezy, with a west wind around 29 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 51. Breezy, with a west wind 23 to 28 mph decreasing to 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph.

Friday night: A 40 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 42. Northwest wind 6 to 13 mph.
