Winter weather advisory in effect

Lake-effect snow is expected to continue tonight, with another 1-3 inches to fall.

The National Weather Service has posted a winter weather advisory for Ottawa, Muskegon, Kent, Mason, Lake, Oceana, Newaygo, Allegan, Barry, Van Buren, Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties until 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Blowing snow is also possible, dropping visibilities to less than a mile at times. Look for snow-covered roads, slow travel and slide-offs this evening.

The forecast for the Grand Haven area:

Tonight: Snow showers. Low around 22. Blustery, with a west-northwest wind 16 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New snow accumulation of around 3 inches.

Wednesday: Snow showers likely, mainly before 7 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 33. Breezy, with a west-northwest wind 13 to 21 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch possible.

Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Breezy, with a south-southwest wind 22 to 26 mph.
