Winter weather advisory for Christmas Day

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a winter weather advisory for snow and blowing snow, in effect from 2 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The advisory area includes Ottawa, Kent and Muskegon counties.

Hazardous weather:

* Snow showers developing around 2 a.m.

* Snow accumulations 1 to 4 inches by 7 a.m. Wednesday.

* Blowing snow reducing visibilities.

Impacts:

* Snow-covered roads and slower travel.

* Power outages possible due to breezy conditions and ice remaining on tree limbs.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* The Michigan Department of Transportation reminds motorists to adjust speeds based on the conditions, and to take it slow in ice and snow.
