Governor appoints local residents to state boards

Gov. Rick Snyder announced Friday a slew of appointments to state boards and commissions, including several appointees from the Northwest Ottawa County area.

Renee Auernhamer Przystas of Grand Haven has been appointed to the Michigan Board of Physical Therapy. The 11-member board plays an advisory role, and assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs with overseeing the practice of physical therapists.

Susan Fabrick of Fruitport was appointed to the Michigan Board of Acupuncture. Housed within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 13-member board oversees the licensure and practice of acupuncture.

James Winkler Jr. of Allendale was named to the Board of Athletic Trainers. The 11-member board assists the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs with overseeing the licensure and practice of athletic trainers.

Diane Parrett of Norton Shores was appointed to the Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. The 11-member board sets entry-level competency and verifies continuing medical education during licensure for about 8,000 osteopathic doctors in the state.

All of the appointments are for four-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2017, and they are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
