Winter weather, wind chill advisories for Ottawa County

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Ottawa County from 4 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Monday. A wind chill watch is in effect from late Sunday night through Tuesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service says snow accumulations of 3-6 inches is expected from late Saturday afternoon into Sunday evening. Wind gusts of 25-35 mph Sunday night and Monday could create blowing and drifting snow.

Wind chills between 20 below and 30 below are possible starting Monday morning as the temperature drops to around zero and the wind picks up.

Impacts:

* Dangerous travel conditions Saturday evening through Sunday night, with slippery roads and accumulating snow.

* It will be unsafe to be outdoors for prolonged periods of time Monday and Tuesday due to the extreme cold.

* Poor visibility in blowing and drifting snow is possible Monday.
