Nativity down

A cold wind whipped across Dewey Hill as area residents braved the dune’s icy conditions on Saturday morning.

For almost an hour, about 35 community members, Grand Haven Rotarians and the Grand Haven High School junior varsity boys basketball team carefully removed the Nativity Scene for the season.

Normally volunteers remove the Nativity Scene the first Saturday after Christmas, but Rotarians delayed this year’s removal by one week to attend the funeral for fellow Rotarian, Dr. Elizabeth Curtis.

The group carefully walked through snow and ice as they removed lights, 8-foot shepherds, flocks of 4-foot sheep, and stored them at the bottom of the hill.

Former Rotarian Tom Creswell said he’s been involved with the Nativity Scene since he became part of the Grand Haven Rotary Club about 20 years ago.

“It’s part of a holiday tradition we’ve been doing for 20 years as a family,” Creswell said.

It is about time they took that eye sore down.

Taken down by the hand of God.

It's about time they took that eye sore down? Do you not have an ounce of respect for why the nativity scene was still up? The JV boys were scheduled to take it down a week earlier but due to devastatingly unforeseen circumstances it had to be delayed. Thank-you JV boys for doing such a great job helping with the Nativity Scene! It's great to see young men going out of their way to help!

I respect the fact that it took longer then it should have to be taken down but it is still an eye sore

echo5oscar

Eye sore? How?

LessThanAmused

Don't pay him no mind. He just comes on here occasionally, snipes at something with a ridiculous comment and then he's gone again.

echo5oscar

Snipe?

LessThanAmused

Yup, it's a type of bird of course, but like a lot of words in the English language it has multiple meanings.

From Merriam -Webster.......
=============================================================
snipe
intransitive verb

: to shoot at someone from a hidden place

: to criticize someone or something in a harsh or unfair way
==============================================================
I don't like using the same word over and over so I try to broaden my vocabulary as I go thru life.

Hope that helps.

Kudos to the kids for their service.

Not unlike someone else that graces these illustrious pages....

bigdeal

...I could take that personally! lol

Lanivan

Me too! ;-)

Aww c'mon. What you guys do is not sniping, it's debating and discussing issues. What he does consistently is more drive-by commenting and while ALL of us could be accused of that at some point or another, it's not done consistently, a modus operendi if you will.

He just tries to stir things up, he's not trying to engage anyone in a debate, he doesn't even answer questions and here I'll reference my question from a few weeks ago to him about how he knows about the deer slaughter on Harbor Island?

I know you two are smarter than to think that so as Forrest would say, "that's all I got to say about that"

The real question here is how did I miss a double-post aka hiccup? If I remove it now your comments will be orphans :-)

Have a good day.

Lanivan

Gee - talk about buzzkill! I'm just trying to liven things up a little with the guilty pleasure of thinking I, too, could be a drive-by commenter once in a while. Pleeeeeese, LTA - just once could I be a sniper?? ;-D

LessThanAmused

LOL! I need to go somewhere warm, think this snow is causing early cabin fever syndrome.

You can be whoever you want to be, but you need to make a decision Lani, either be P.C. or a Drive-by sniper. You can't work both sides of the street girl. :-D
