For almost an hour, about 35 community members, Grand Haven Rotarians and the Grand Haven High School junior varsity boys basketball team carefully removed the Nativity Scene for the season.
Normally volunteers remove the Nativity Scene the first Saturday after Christmas, but Rotarians delayed this year’s removal by one week to attend the funeral for fellow Rotarian, Dr. Elizabeth Curtis.
The group carefully walked through snow and ice as they removed lights, 8-foot shepherds, flocks of 4-foot sheep, and stored them at the bottom of the hill.
Former Rotarian Tom Creswell said he’s been involved with the Nativity Scene since he became part of the Grand Haven Rotary Club about 20 years ago.
“It’s part of a holiday tradition we’ve been doing for 20 years as a family,” Creswell said.
