11. WHY DO DEMOCRATS HATE MIDDLE CLASS SENIORS?

Last week Democrats announced an additional 2%+ cut to Medicare Advantage, a hugely popular and successful managed care program for Seniors started under George Bush.

This cut is on top of the $716 Billion Democrats took from Medicare to pay for Obamacare (reductions from 2013 to 2022 through across-the-board changes in Medicare payment formulas for a variety of Medicare providers, including hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, and hospice agencies.) $156+ Billion was for reductions to Medicare Advantage.

Now 19 Democrats wrote a letter to HHS appearing to ask it to stop the cuts that they voted for to pay for Obamacare, and any additional cuts Democrats announced. http://thehill.com/blogs/healthw....

How stupid do Democrats think Seniors are - trying to separate themselves from the Head of their Party, Obama, and his administration - after they voted for the cuts they complain about? Medicare is targeted solely at Seniors. Democrats have taken $716 Billion from the programs for Seniors and used it to redistribute wealth to non-seniors through Obamacare subsidies. Now they want to take more. Seniors need to understand this!!

Vlad, replace the images of black people being washed down the street in the 60's with seniors being washed down the street and you just about have it...it's one of the images the little guy loving progressives don't want brought up during elections. The spin machine would say it wasn't being mean or racist; they were getting a free shower, laundry and transportation down the sidewalk which is something the rich loving conservatives would never offer!

#4. Obamacare may be here to stay, but the manufacturing of antibiotics and steroids are long gone. The United States is nearly completely reliant on China for its supply of lifesaving antibiotics.

“The crucial ingredients for nearly all antibiotics, steroids and many other lifesaving drugs are now made exclusively in China,” The New York Times reported."

Agree this is very concerning, but you blame "free markets?" How about some tax incentives to bring the drug makers back home, like we give tax incentives (plus billions in cash) to so-called Green Energy firms that fail regularly? Like states and municipalities give tax incentives to business (and Hollywood) to attract them.

But no, liberals rant and rave about "Big Pharma," slander the industry on a regular basis, and then act surprised when Pharma looks for places that actually welcome them.

Case in point - To pay for Obamacare, Democrats places a fat excise tax on medical device manufacturers and importers, raising the costs of everything from MRI and Lasik machines to oxygen tanks and pacemakers

"First, it’s a tax on sales, so even companies that are losing money have to pay it. This means the tax disproportionately harms young, innovative start up companies that are building the medical technologies of the future. It takes a ton of money to bring a new medical device to market, between the regulatory hurdles at FDA and the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Service, legal bills from protecting patents and intellectual property, manufacturing costs and challenges of building a highly specialized sales forces. Medical device companies generally don’t achieve profitability until they hit at least the $100 million in sales mark (if they’re lucky).http://commonhealth.wbur.org/201...

"Obamacare’s medical device tax has already created a job loss of 33,000 in the medical device industry and 132,0o0 more job losses are expected, according to a new report from the industry trade group the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), obtained by the Daily Caller." http://dailycaller.com/2014/02/1...

Next liberals will be surprised when there is a shortage of medical devices, and that their manufacturers have moved overseas to more favorable business climates - and will demonize the industry (only 2.3% tax; unpatriotic; no reason for them to leave the U.S.).

There are solutions to the problem, but not ones Democrats who abhor open and free markets will embrace. . . .
