Wind chill advisory

A wind chill advisory for the Lake Michigan Lakeshore, including Ottawa County, is in effect until 11 a.m. Friday.

The National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids said we'll see wind chill readings between 10 below and 20 below, with the lowest readings early Friday morning.

Impacts:

— Frostbite times of 30 minutes or less. If you do go outside, dress warmly and make sure that all exposed skin is covered.

— Lingering light snow showers along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

— Snow-covered or ice roadways, especially along the Lakeshore.

Forecast for the Grand Haven area:

Tonight: Scattered snow showers before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around minus 2. Wind chill values as low as minus 10. North-northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 17. Wind chill values as low as minus 14. South-southeast wind 8 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Friday night: Snow likely, mainly after 1 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 15. Southeast wind 6 to 15 mph becoming west-southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than 1 inch possible.
