Cheney and cardiologist Jonathan Reiner plan to speak at a luncheon presented by Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation and the Economic Club of Grand Rapids on Monday. Before that, they're scheduled to take part in a roundtable at the Spectrum Health Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center.

Cheney and Reiner co-authored a book, "Heart: An American Medical Odyssey."

Cheney's history of heart trouble includes the first of five heart attacks at age 37. He underwent a heart transplant in 2012 at age 71.

Cheney was President Gerald Ford's chief of staff. Ford's hometown was Grand Rapids.
