A wind advisory is in effect for Ottawa County until 8 tonight.

The National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids said easterly winds gusting past 40 mph will gradually diminish early this evening.

Impacts:

— Scattered power outages are likely.

— Travel could be difficult for high-profile vehicles, especially on north/south roads.

The forecast for the Grand Haven area:

Tonight: Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2 am. Low around 43. Windy, with an east wind 23 to 31 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. East wind 9 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
