11. BENGHAZI LIES UNCOVERED

After the Obama Administration provided Congress with heavily redacted e-mails on Benghazi we find out why when a Judicial Watch lawsuit required production of the actual documents.

Former Obama speechwriter/Fixer turned Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes (whose brother is Head of CBS News, surprise surprise), wrote, in preparing Susan Rice for her lies on the Sunday Talk Shows, The Goal is:

“To underscore that these protests are rooted in and Internet video, and not a broader failure or policy.” contrary to the advice from State Department and CIA officials actually in Benghazi who identified it as a terrorist attack.

So,(a) Susan Rice lied to the American people (b) Hillary Clinton blamed the video when meeting the families of the dead Americans when they received the bodies of their loved ones and (c) they threw a man in jail for producing the video.

Makes you proud, eh?

Lanivan

Oh stop, for the love of God. The video exacerbated an already volatile and violent citizenry. How could it not? In that vein, you could say the video was highly successful, otherwise - what was the reason for the video? No one said it was the sole and only reason for the attack. Benghazi is over - even your own leaders say so, quit being, well, obsessive. and irrelevent.

echo5oscar

Really? Because it's over, you aren't interested in the truth?

Vladtheimp

You mean like "What difference, at this point, does it make"? Just 4 dead Americans, the Obama Administration lying, covering up, redacting and obfuscating?

Nothing to see here peasants, just go on your way.

The e-mails demonstrate that there was a cover-up of the cover-up, and it is important to see who, if anyone, gave young Rhodes the direction to introduce the video into Susan Rice's talking points unless, of course, the truth is unimportant when Obama is involved.

Lanivan

I mean, like, 1.) There has been over a year of intense investigations, none of which reveal any White House cover-up. 2.) Those investigations are now redundant. At this stage, the fact-finding mission has turned into a learning curve - what needs to happen so that this doesn't happen again. 3.) Let's quit abusing the dead Americans for political capital. It's sick, stupid, and the world has moved on. Darryl Issa is not only the richest congressman in the world, he's a loser.

The New York Times and others have done in-depth independent investigations that show definitively that the problems are complex, and can not just be reduced to another "he lied". Like all things Middle East.

Speaking of truth, what do you think of that Cliven Bundy? And if you want to get gossipy, what about Sarah Palin commenting at this last week's national National Rifle Association convention, "...waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists,". What a sweetheart! Too bad she wasn't our Ambassador in Benghazi - things would have gone down way, way different!

echo5oscar

The issue here was not Clive Bundy, Sarah Palin, Darryl Issa or the NRA.

1. The ongoing investigation into how and why Ambassador Stevens was killed by terrorists after the additional security he had pleaded for was denied by Hillary Clinton's State Department is being stonewalled, slow walked, and obstructed by the Obama White House - note the referenced e-mails that were so redacted when given over to Congress that they made no sense until Judicial Watch had to sue for them in Court, after their Freedom of Information Act request was stonewalled. (2) The investigation is not redundant - these latest e-mails were never provided to Congress. (3) Let's stop obstructing legitimate inquiries, under the Constitutional role of Congressional oversight, to protect Obama.

Since we are scattering shiny objects around, what do you think of Marie Strumolo Burke?

Lanivan

1. The whole world knows by now that the Repubs slashed and burned billions from the State Dept. We also know that Ambassador Stevens was fearless about being with the locals, and probably should not have even been in Benghazi on 9/11, but he chose to defy the odds; brave, admirable, but a poor decision.

2. I will assume you were also concerned about obstruction of the truth when Colin Powell, Dick Cheney, Condolezza Rice, and George Bush lied, misappropriated security information, and otherwise denied the truth to Congress and the American people about the Iraq War? If not, you don't have a leg to stand on, and your complaint today is redundant.

3. I am not aware that anyone has denied the Constitutional role of oversight. You must elucidate. I don't care to have my taxpayer money going towards a witch hunt. I would prefer my taxpayer money to go towards establishing tighter security protocols, better CIA intelligence, and a smarter understanding of the Middle Eastern psyche. Again, from what I have read about Ambassador Stevens, I doubt he would approve of all this commotion; the Republican crying wolf over this episode does not honor his principled career or his brave legacy.

4. Hah! I think Marie and Cliven would make a very nice couple, don't you? Apparently, they would share a love of food, are both a little - you know - racist, and seem to enjoy the limelight. Of course, Cliven is a law-breaking, free-loading man who doesn't have a patriotic bone in his body. He might not be good enough for Marie, on second thought.

Lanivan

Hey Vlad! Guess what I found today? An old, old bottle of Schweppes Quinine Water, imported from London, England. Will be quite the conversation starter at our outing. I don't recommend drinking it, tho.....

Citizen

I can see ignoring this issue for just one reason, and that is a concession that the USA needs to be engaged in shady coalition with undesirable groups in order to protect its interests and security. It isn't palatable, but at least such a viewpoint acknowledges that there is more to the story than some protests that got out of hand. I would sure hope our security forces could protect a diplomatic post from such unrest, if that were the case.

Lanivan

Check out the NYTimes investigation from about 4-5 months ago. There were many inter-related variables that converged to create Benghazi. It
would defy reason had the attack not become reality.

Citizen

Right. All the more reason not to over simplify for public consumption. Not to rehash history, but yellow cake uranium mistakes/lies were not just ignored by public opinion. Every administration should be subject to scrutiny and skepticism.

12. Man breaks 5-minute mark in epic beer mile . Four laps, four beers, under five minutes.

http://msn.foxsports.com/buzzer/...

Lanivan

Oh-oh. Looks like someone needs to start training asap.

Barry Soetoro

Hi L! Good to see you back and in top form. It's been too quiet around here lately. Perhaps we could incorporate a Beer Mile with the Beer Summit? Maybe throw in some of Jerry L's pizza beforehand and call it a triathlon?

Lanivan

Thanks for the invite. I'm really not "back', but when I am, I'll be needing a B.S. triathlon, for sure.

#1. Before the tears flow and recriminations against the death penalty abound because this waste of air suffered for a few minutes, read about his crime - getting surprised during a robbery, beating several people including a child, then taking a woman, shooting her with a shotgun and burying her alive. http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/c...

Wingmaster

Should have buried this turd alive and match the way he murdered innocent people for his execution style.

Lanivan

Sarah would have waterboarded his sorry aft.

Citizen

Isn't that just a bidet?

Lanivan

Uh....wrong end. But it's very possible Sarah would get her directions mixed up.

Citizen

You're taking the piss out of my joke, so to speak, but my aft is attached to the lower part of my back. Haven't seen any photos of the condemned, however; he might be configured differently. I am sure Sarah would give as many ends as necessary a thorough going-over, though.

Speaking of different ends, I am fascinated that famous women are so much more frequently referred to by their first name than are men. I suppose people would assume her husband if the last were used!

Lanivan

Sorry - I thought your joke was really funny, just trying to capitalize on your superb sense of humor. My aft is opposite my bow, but let's not split hairs.

I think it best not to 'assume' anything when it comes to famous women. Besides, isn't Sarah's husband's name " First Dude"?

Barry Soetoro

(1)Unfortunately the execution that was scheduled two hours after this one didn't happen. This s.o.b. got a 14 day stay -
