During his first five years in the real estate business, Buelow has become one of the association's most participatory members. A former contractor, he has served on its Public Relations Committee and has gone to Lansing and Washington on behalf of the association to discuss private property rights issues.

The association named Nancy Bierenga, a partner with the E'Lan Realty Lakeshore in Muskegon, as its Realtor of the Year for 2013. Don Carlston, an agent in the Muskegon office of Greenridge Realty, was given a Lifetime Achievement Award. Scott Hendges, who works for Niederveld Engineering, was named Affiliate Member of the Year.
