Pruebelo Mexican Restaurant, 510 W. Savidge St., will serve its final meals on Saturday.

“We've had a good run,” said Scott Domont, who owns the restaurant with his wife, Christine. “Some good opportunities have come up and it's time to do something different.”

Domont would not elaborate on the reason for closing, other than he will be working in sales.

“We'll still live here, and actually we'll be able to be more involved in the community because we won't be working so late," he said.

Domont said he wanted to give customers notice so they would have an opportunity to use up gift cards before the restaurant closed.

Pruebelo opened in in the Leppink's strip mall in Ferrysburg 18 years ago before moving to Spring Lake.

This really is sad. Certainly one of the best places to eat in Tri-Cities.

I don't know about them being one of the best places to eat in the Tri- Cities area.. There are definately better places to eat. The food was average.. very bland to be exact, however it is sad to see another Spring Lake Business close its doors.

I'm surprised they lasted this long. I ate there 5 years ago and never went back. The food, service and cleanliness was way below average. These restaraunts are the reason "Restaraunt Impossible" is such a hit. Unfortunately, the grand haven area is full of these mediocre places to eat. This is not a personal attack, it is just a statement of fact. Really good cuisine is hard to come by here. I will say that Don Louis does a pretty good job with their mexican fare....

Adios! I'd personally much rather head to Tip a Few or Vic's for Mexican food. Both restaurants blew these guys out of the water...although the owners always seemed to be quite pleasant and I wish them well in their future endeavors!
