Kiddin' around

The Kids Parade marched through downtown Grand Haven and packed the streets with mascots, floats, fire trucks, dancers and more. While the Meijer Grand Parade is the largest parade celebration during Coast Guard Festival, kids get to honor the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard with their own fun flair.

Sponsored by the D&W Fresh Market, the Kids Parade was just one exciting event on Festival Family Day. Children donned their running bib numbers for the 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk and Tot Trot Obstacle Course earlier that morning. Following the races and parade, kids got to partake in a red carpet photo op, an interactive theater experience, games, face painting and much more.

Kids’ favorite floats and characters were a clan of Disney princesses, a wide variety of dogs, the dancing Culver’s mascot and dancers keeping kids entertained with dazzling tricks. Area schools and businesses were represented in fun, colorful ways and added a pop of color to the cloudy Saturday morning.
