The Biscayne Bay has often called on Grand Haven for the annual Coast Guard Festival, providing tours from Escanaba Park. Its homeport is St. Ignace.

There was no mention of tours or how long the ship would be in port for this visit, other than it would be brief.

The 140-foot cutter is one of seven ice-breaking tug boats in the Great Lakes. From early December through mid-April every year, Lakers call on the services of the Biscayne Bay to free them from their beset position in the ice, break the way and preventing ice jams from forming in the critical waterways.

Update: The Biscayne Bay entered the port of Grand Haven shortly after noon.
