It appears as if community members want smart use of tax payer dollars and not wasteful spending. (heard SLPS was defeated by 90 votes). It also looks like we approve of the way our local government is performing and keeping the incumbents.

christopher

If this is true, I guess SLPS will have to close tomorrow. If I remember correctly, the super said there was no plan B. Very sad that there will be no school for the kids tomorrow.

christopher

Still amazed how slow SL results are coming in. Is there a problem with the voting machines or something else in SLTownship? It is interesting that GH has been completely in for some time ... now here we are more than an hour and half after poll closing and no full results.

christopher

It looks like the Chronicle is reporting the loss of the SL Bond proposal based on a conversation with the super ... see the comments section on this page: http://www.mlive.com/news/muskeg...
One of their reporters commented on it.

christopher

The county web site is reporting 1806 yes to 1895 with 5 out of 5 reporting.

christopher

I can not believe it takes over an hour for Spring Lake to report 5 precincts. You would think with modern technology that information would be available in minutes.

hautecouture

I know... why is it taking so long?!?!?!?

christopher

Must be some hanging chads or dimples . . . or something.

CitizensDave

Have to count all of the Chicago votes

christopher

Oh yes . . . voting early and often

hautecouture

This is ridiculous, not even one precinct is in? I hope it's no, but just with the high school, they'll keep trying (most likely) until they get it passed.

christopher

Actually some results are in ... Trib appears to just be a bit slow reporting. You can find more results at: http://gis.co.ottawa.mi.us/Elect...

hautecouture

Thanks... eek I really hope it doesn't pass.

ggravish

So you want instant results yet don't want to pay taxes?

christopher

what is that supposed to mean? Just because someone is against a specific proposal does NOT mean that they do not want to pay taxes. It is important that all proposals be considered for their individual merit. Don't be a bully!!

Your insults and bullying does not mean you are right. Others have a right to their opinion while still holding out hope that results will not be delayed.

I've seen the computers at Holmes School. If your definition of "modern technology" is a CRT with Windows XP, then I humbly stand corrected, dear sir.

hautecouture

So you think it's necessary to spend 60M because a school has some outdated computers? Go look at a school in Muskegon Heights or a poor area, and you'll realized how lucky SL is to have what we have.

ggravish

Yes. Yes I do.

christopher

What? Who said anything about the technology at Holmes school ... or any other school for that matter. The notation about technology is related to the Spring Lake Township Clerk's office ... not the school. Sorry to confuse you.

In any case, hopefully we can all become a united community ... no matter how this thing turns out.

Let's not be snippy with each other. Let's be good Lakers no matter what happens.

ggravish

Yes. Yes I do.

It's hard not to be snippy with someone who accuses someone of not wanting to pay taxes because they have a differing view point.

ggravish

Yes. Yes I do.

ggravish

Yes. Yes I do.

hautecouture

No, I do not want to pay taxes on something that I think is an absolute waste of money and completely unnecessary and excessive at this point in time. Not the time to be raising taxes.

ggravish

It's a half a tank a gas a year.

hautecouture

Justify it any way you want. I think it's extremely unnecessary. They need to pay off the aquatic center and high school first.

ggravish

It's 2 cartons of cigarettes.
