The students raised nearly $1,300 toward the purchase of turkeys for Thanksgiving baskets.

On Nov. 14, the school staff and students in preschool through eighth grades held a food drive for Thanksgiving baskets to be donated to the local food pantry. The students in Kristen Christoffersens’ fourth-grade class also designed and created cards to be distributed with the collected items.

“The students in each class are assigned one specific food item to bring in to fill the baskets,” Principal Mike Devitt said. “Working together as a team, the students, families and staff help to provide a Thanksgiving meal to those who may not otherwise have the means to. This is a great way to give back to the community and help to revive hope to those that may be struggling, and the recipients always delight in the students’ handmade cards.”
