Peets will take over on Jan. 9.

Peets has served as principal of Muskegon’s Oakridge Lower Elementary School for the last eight years. Prior to that, she was dean of students at Mona Shores Middle School.

Peets majored in education at Michigan State University and received her master’s degree in educational leadership from Western Michigan University.

Peets was chosen from 43 applicants, and was one of five finalists, according to Spring Lake Public Schools Superintendent Dennis Furton.

“I think that we have been blessed to find a candidate who has experience, has the skill set that we were looking for, and has the right attitude about relationships and building trust with staff and parents,” Furton said. “I think we’ve been smiled upon.”

Peets, a 1989 Spring Lake High School graduate, attended Jeffers from 1976-82.
