Muskegon Heights’ schools finances getting review

The review was reportedly expected to begin today and be completed within three weeks.

The Muskegon Heights school board this month decided that the district needs a state-appointed emergency financial manager. A review is a first step that could lead to an emergency manger.

The district faces an estimated deficit of more than $10 million.

The Michigan Department of Education notified district officials on Monday about its plans.
