The state said in a release that this morning’s session is in accordance with Michigan’s Open Meetings Act.
An Ingham County Circuit judge ruled last month that a Highland Park Schools review team violated the act. The team’s recommendations led to the appointment of an emergency manager to the Detroit area district.
Highland Park’s review team, a team looking at the city of Detroit’s finances, and another assigned to the city of Inkster have since had open meetings.
A preliminary review found “probable financial stress” in Muskegon Heights Schools. The district’s current year budget deficit is $8.5 million.
