Sorrelle, 41, has been a teacher at Lakeshore Middle School for several years. She has been serving as the school’s assistant principal intern since August 2011.

Sorrelle was one of five applicants considered for the position.

She will start in May.

“I feel very blessed and honored as a Grand Haven graduate, as an educator in the school system, as a parent and as a member of the leadership team,” the Grand Haven Township woman said. “I’m thankful for all of my colleagues at Lakeshore and in the district, my leadership team, and the mentors who were ahead of me.”

Sorrelle is a 1988 Grand Haven High School graduate and has been working in the district since 1994. Throughout her term, she has taught world language at Lakeshore and White Pines middle schools, and served on several committees. For the past three years, she has worked exclusively at Lakeshore, Principal Kevin Polston said.
