Candidates sought for school board vacancy

Spring Lake Public Schools is seeking applicants for a newly vacant seat on the school board.

Dina Horne’s resignation as school board president was accepted earlier this week. Horne is unable to finish her term because her family is moving.

The board has appointed Paul Aldridge as president and Jeff Lauinger as vice president.

Residents of the school district interested in the board position should submit a letter of interest and qualifications by 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3. Information can be mailed to: Spring Lake Public Schools, c/o Arleen Cox, 345 Hammond St., Spring Lake, MI 49456; or e-mailed to

Once the submitted materials are reviewed, the board will schedule interviews with selected candidates on Dec. 11. Not all applicants will be interviewed.

The appointee will serve the remainder of Horne's term, which ends Dec. 31, 2014.
