Walk for Warmth

After twice being canceled due to snow days, West Michigan Academy of Arts and Academics students left their classrooms and headed outdoors to participate in a Walk for Warmth event.

The money students raised from pledges for the walk was donated to the Ottawa County Community Action Agency’s utility assistance program, which helps families who have received shut-off notices from a utility company.

Sixth-grader Jordan Poindexter said she felt good about her participation in the event.

“If I can go through this walking and they go through it going to bed, it’s for a good cause,” she said.

Friday's event also concluded the academy’s Wellness Week.
