Joyful Noise Christian Care is currently enrolling children into its first Young Fives program for the fall.

The center, located inside First Presbyterian Church at 508 Franklin Ave. in Grand Haven, has 12 openings for students who must be 5 years old before Jan. 21, 2014.

Chantal McDaniel, the public relations for Joyful Noise, said they wanted to provide families the opportunity since other local programs have closed their doors.

“We’re just trying to reach out and fill the need in the community,” she said.

Throughout the five-day class time, Young Fives students will be introduced into the kindergarten structure as they learn through a play-based curriculum. Young Fives teacher Amanda Faltinowski said it's considered the best practice for social, emotional and intellectual growth.

For the past few years, Faltinowski taught preschool at Joyful Noise. She is also co-coordinator for Growing in Grace, a children's praise program at Joyful Noise.

In addition to having music class and time in the chapel, Young Five students will use a combination of Handwriting Without Tears and Zoo-phonics, a reading and English program, in the classroom. Independent working and working with partners will be emphasized.

Please don't forget that Grand Haven Christian also has 3 day a week kindergarten. Amazing teachers and a great place to learn!

Little Lakers Learning Center in Spring Lake is a Christian focused environment that offers Young 5 programming as well as preschool (my daughter had preschool 5 days/wk) and daycare/afterschool programming for age 1 through school age. The entire center offers an amazing Biblical based education daily and adheres very closely to the education requirements of SL Public Schools.
