D'Vine Event to benefit east-side park

A D’Vine Event is offering up food, drinks, live music and auctions to help climb to a fundraising goal that will put a new playground structure in Grand Haven’s Bolt Park.

The event will take place under the green canopy of Chinook Pier, along Harbor Drive, beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday. Folks will be able to munch on food and sip beer and wine selections from Michigan and around the world. Tickets are $35.

There will also be a wide spread of hors d'oeuvres and desserts from seven local food vendors — including Sweet Temptations and a new restaurant in town, Grand Haven Islands, which is located across the street from Bolt Park.

The event will include 30-50 items up for bidding during live and silent auctions to help raise money for Bolt Park’s new addition.

Last year, the Rotary Club of Grand Haven event benefited the Grand Haven Schools Foundation for a program that helps at-risk preschool children. The Rotary Club is still keeping the focus on youth this year by raising money for the Bolt Park Kids’ Climbing Web Project.

Rotary Club Director Kelly Larson said up to 600 tickets will be sold for A D’Vine Event and net proceeds will be donated to the City of Grand Haven for the project.

There is no room in Bolt park for a playground structure. Really, with other playgrounds within 2 blocks of this park, why is this even going through? This is so much BS.

Ah come on you big softie, it's for the kids. Does this mean you aren't showing up for hors d'oeuvres and drinks; damn!

BigDeal really raising money for kids is BS. I'm changing your name to BigMouthDeal.

no Pike, your comprehension is missing here. There is a playground 1 block away at East End Park, a playground 3 blocks away at Sluka (Harz) field, a playground 4 blocks away at Ferry School. My point is...how darn lazy are these kids nowadays they can't walk that far??? This is the most UN-nessisary project I have heard of (for the kids [awwww] or anyone else)! There is absolutely no room for a playground in Bolt Park, they put a creepy porta-potty there for those who can't walk a block, wtf?
