Is the last big summer weekend here already? Yes, and school starts up Tuesday!

(1) Labor Day Community Bridge Walk — 9 a.m. Monday in Grand Haven. The city puts on this annual walk in conjunction with other bridge walks across the state on Monday. Walkers will meet on Harbor Island, at the north side of Third Street. The end point is Chinook Pier. Participants will have a chance to win prizes from local businesses.

(2) Replicas of Columbus’ ships — 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Monday at Heritage Landing Park, on Muskegon’s downtown waterfront. You can board replicas of the Pinta and Nina — sorry, no Santa Maria. The cost is $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $6 for students ages 5-16, and free for ages 4 and younger. The Niña replica was built entirely by hand, without the use of power tools. It's considered the most historically correct replica of the famous ship.

(3) Boy Scout Troop 246 Pancake Breakfast — 8-11 a.m. Saturday at Masonic Center, 344 Fulton Ave., Grand Haven. The proceeds will assist each boy’s cost for summer camp. Adults are $5; children ages 12 and younger are $3.

(4) Howard Family Benefit — 1-3:30 p.m. Saturday at Pottawattomie Park, 15600 Comstock St., Grand Haven Township. The benefit is to raise money for the family of Trevor Howard, the 8-year-old Grand Haven boy who lost his battle with leukemia on Sunday. The fundraiser includes sales for a $10 benefit dinner (occurs Oct. 4), $12 T-shirts and $5 car decals, or all three for $25.

(5) Kids Day at Coopersville Farm Museum — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the museum, 375 Main St., Coopersville. The event happens on the last Saturday of each month, and includes plenty of friendly animals. For details, visit www.coopersvillefarmmuseum.org.

Monday, September 1st, Labor day...

Cars For Cancer car show at the Mercy Health Lakes Village on Harvey Street, just off Pontaluna. I'm not sure of the start/finish time, but if you get there between 9:00am and 3:00 pm there should be plenty to see.
