Grand Haven High School’s Catalina Club performed choreographed routines during its “Divin’ with the Divas” show.

The club will take to the water for three more shows today: at 2, 5 and 7 p.m.

Muskegon resident Arielle Palmer, 8, said Friday’s show marked her first synchronized swimming event. She was there to watch her cousin, Miranda Sherwood, a member of the club.

“It was fun,” Arielle said.

The club's members began practicing for their annual show since they returned to school from the Christmas break in January.

Senior Allison Cotter said it’s sometimes challenging to get up early and swim, but getting in the water and moving around pumps her up.

“It’s such a good way to start the day,” she said.

After a few months of practice, more than 100 swimmers hit the water twirling and creating various formations Friday night. Senior Lauren Hamberg said she fed off the crowd’s enthusiasm as they cheered for the swimmers.

“It’s just a blast,” she said.
