The Fruitport native’s blind audition appeared on NBC’s reality singing talent show “The Voice” revealing his rendition of “It’s a Beautiful Day” captured the attention of celebrity judges Blake Shelton and CeeLo Green.
Cerniglia chose to join the team coached by Blake Shelton. He was one of 11 singers to join celebrity teams last night.
Cerniglia will advance to a battle round where he will be pitted against a team member to sing the same song together in front of a studio audience. After the battle, the coach will choose which singers advance to a knockout round.
The show airs at 8 p.m. Mondays and Tuesday locally on WOOD-TV.
The 2006 Fruitport High School graduate studied vocal performance at Central Michigan University before transferring to Columbia College in Chicago, where he studied contemporary, urban and popular music.
